Adjustable Piano Benches for Your Piano Needs
Guide to Choosing the Right Piano Bench for you The standard height of a chair or piano stool is 18" to 19" but occasionally a lower or higher height is necessary due to several reasons. Keyboards of pianos are often different distances from the ground with upright pianos being the tallest. A grand piano on a spider transport is higher than one in the average living room & some grands are just shorter than others. Spinet pianos are also various heights. Another reason can be the height of the player: children need a taller piano bench while some taller adults need shorter piano benches so that their hands and wrists are at the correct placement over the keys. Jansen offers shorter legs on their Artist Benches by special order. An adjustable piano bench will satisfy all of these needs and, in the case of children, it can change as the child grows. Ideally a pianist's wrists should be level with elbows hanging loose when the hands are over the keyboard. The pianist should also be sitting on the front edge of the bench in order to properly support the spinal column.
We are fortunate to be able to offer adjustable piano benches from two fine companies: American made top quality high-end Jansen Piano Benches from Paul L. Jansen & Son (makers of all the piano benches for Steinway and many other fine piano companies), and more modestly priced Campbell-Knight piano benches from Benchworld. Both companies offer adjustable Artist Benches as well as standard piano benches & duet piano benches for sale. Piano Stools and a Piano Practice Chair are available on the Jansen page.
